Taking up 3.3 acres, the Oklahoma City National Memorial is the largest memorial of its kind in the United States. It was built in memory of those who died in the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.

Landmark Trivia

  • The memorial consists of several different sections: the Gates of Time, a reflecting pool, the Field of Empty Chairs, the Survivors' Chapel, The Survivor Tree, The Memorial Fence, Rescuers' Orchard, and the Children's Area. Just outside of the formal memorial are a statue "And Jesus Wept," the Journal Record Building, which houses the memorial's museum, and the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building Plaza.
