The S.S. American Victory is a World War II Victory ship which is now a working maritime museum. One of several Victory ships due to be scrapped, she was rescued for preservation and arrived at Tampa on 16 September 1999.

Landmark Trivia

  • She was built at the California Shipbuilding (Calship) Yard in Los Angeles, California.
  • The ship was named for after American University in Washington, D.C.
  • Victory is 455 feet long, 62 feet wide, has a draft of 28 feet and weights 7612 tons. Her displacement is 10.750 tons. The ship was equipped with one 5-inch 38 caliber gun, one 3-inch/50 caliber gun and eight 20 mm guns.
