The location of the most famous annual Groundhog's Day ceremonies. Punxsutawney Phil emerges from his temporary home on Gobbler's Knob each February 2nd, and if he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter.

Landmark Trivia

  • For the official ceremony, Phil is kept in a heated burrow underneath a simulated tree stump on stage.
  • Punxsutawney Phil does not live at Gobbler's Knob. He lives in the Punxsutawney town library.
  • The first official Groundhog Day trip to Gobbler's Knob took place in 1887 by "The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club," a group of groundhog hunters.
  • There is no parking at Gobbler's Knob. To see the Groundhog's Day ceremonies, you must park in Punxsutawney and take a shuttle bus.
