  • The designer of the memorial was Maya Ying Lin.
  • The memorial is formed by two polished black granite walls, each 246.8 feet long, meeting at an angle of approximately 125 degrees and forming an open wedge.
  • The memorial was opened to the public on November 13, 1982.
