A 110-foot (34 m) high obelisk with allegorical sculptures at its base stands as a monument to Miami pioneer Henry M. Flagler. It was constructed in the center of an artificial island in memory of Flagler, who died in 1913.

Formerly The Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin American Art, the museum preserves, promotes and displays contemporary Spanish and Latin American artwork. It also hosts monthly touring exhibitions.

Founded in 1997, MAM is currently housed in a space that was solely conceived as an exhibition hall. The museum is in the process of building a new facility in Museum Park in downtown Miami.

The Museum first started as "The Junior Museum of Miami" and was established in 1949. The planetarium was opened on November 4, 1966. The administration is currently working to move the museum to Park West at Bicentennial Park
The killer whale show at the Miami Seaquarium
The park was the first major marine park attraction in South Florida. Its grand opening was in 1955. In addition to the marine mammals, the Miami Seaquarium also houses fish, sharks, sea turtles, birds, reptiles and manatees.
