Tourist attractions, famous landmarks and other points of interest in Athens, Ohio:

Athens, OH: the Ridges, first known as the Athens Lunatic Asylum is no longer a mental hospital and has mostly fallen into disrepair. Parts of it have been renovated by Ohio University, the present owner.

The hospital was in operation from 1874 to 1993 and for many years, was Athens' largest employer. The site is now owned by Ohio University and is part of a development called The Ridges. It is considered to be haunted.
